Case Study No. 0706: Unnamed Female Librarian (Greg Glienna)

The Librarian
2:50
This is another modern interpretation of the silent movie genre by Greg Glienna.

I did all the camera work, acted as DP, and edited. I also oversaw pre-production and acted as project manager.

A Film by Greg Glienna
The Librarian

[scene opens with a male patron sitting down to read his book, when he coughs quietly ... this is immediately followed by someone off camera shushing him]
[cut to a female librarian (red hair, glasses) at the front desk, who smiles and points at the "please be quiet in the Library, thank you" sign behind her]
[cut back to the patron, who looks around in confusion before pointing at himself]
[cut back to the librarian, who nods, then points at the sign again]
[cut back to the patron, who nods (still with a slight look of bewilderment), then turns the page in his book ... but an amplified "turning page" sound effect plays]
[cut back to the librarian, who looks up and puts a finger to her lips, again shushing him]
[cut back to the patron (with a confused look on his face), then back to the librarian, who points at the sign again]
[cut back to the patron, who continues reading, then reaches into his shirt pocket and pulls out a piece of candy]
[cut back to the librarian, who looks up and eyes the candy suspiciously]
[cut back to the patron, as he nervously begins unwrapping the candy ... but an amplified "ripping scotch tape" sound effect plays]
[cut back to the librarian, who continues to calmly stare at him with a look of disdain]
[cut back to the patron, who finishes unwrapping the candy and looks up at her in relief]
[cut back to the librarian, who looks back down at her index cards]
[cut back to the patron, who puts the candy in his mouth ... but an amplified "chewing" sound effect plays]
[cut back to the librarian, who angrily looks up and shushes him again]
[cut back to the patron, who slowly takes the candy out of his mouth and tosses it into the nearby garbage can ... where it makes a loud "ping" noise when it hits the bottom]
[he holds his hands up in apology, then quietly sits back down to continue reading ... then another male patron sits down next to him holding a magazine, when his cellphone starts ringing]
[the patron looks over at the librarian nervously, then cut to the librarian with a shocked look on her face]
[cut back to the other patron, as he answers his phone]
CELL PHONE GUY: [into phone] Hey hey! No! No I was gonna call you!
[he starts laughing loudly, then cut to the librarian as she angrily shushes him]
[cut back to the patron, as he continues laughing loudly into his phone, then the sound of a gunshot can be heard and the patron slumps forward onto the table]
[cut to the original patron, who looks over at the fallen man, then he looks back over at the librarian]
[cut back to the librarian (pointing a gun towards the camera), when she calmly pushes her glasses up her nose and continues looking over her index cards]
[cut back to the patron, who nervously tries to stand up and leave ... his chair squeaks as he pushes it back, so he quickly throws his hands up in apology and shushes himself (as the sound of a gun being cocked can be heard)]
[cut back to the librarian (without her glasses), as she is pointing her gun at the patron while her eye twitches wildly]
[cut back to the patron, who gives a nervous smile and then tip-toes his way off camera]
